Our Design Services

In our aesthetic industry, nuance is everything. A slight alteration to a fabric can make all the difference to whether or not it is suitable for a specific garment. With this in mind, Robert Noble’s in-house design team is happy to make minor adjustments to cloths from our collections wherever possible.

Alterations are made to fabrics from our collections, in woven blanket form or using the most up to date CAD software, and the modified designs sent to the customer for approval. When this is done by email, yarn samples are sent in the post to confirm the colour composition of the cloth, and approval is sought from the customer before the production process commences.

Where our existing designs do not lend themselves to modification – or an entirely new perspective is required – our design team can collaborate with you to engineer an exclusive fabric that meets your needs exactly.

Our archive, which houses Robert Noble textiles spanning two centuries, provides inspiration for initial design discussions. A visit to the mill’s vast yarn bank can help to narrow down the specifics. Myriad yarn colours line the shelves and wool is just one of the qualities available. Cashmere, silk, cotton and linen blends also feature heavily in Robert Noble fabrics.

All new textiles are tested in-house for colour fastness, seam slippage and pilling. Robert Noble’s highly trained in-house technical team can also conduct perspiration tests and explore other technical requests from customers seeking specialist performance from their fabrics.
